The scientific community is increasingly delving into the correlation between digestive and nervous system health, and for good reason. The impact of an unhealthy digestive system on our nervous system is substantial, and it’s essential to understand this relationship.

Here are some indicators that may signal a problem with your digestive system:

  1. Antibiotic Use – Although useful when necessary, antibiotics not only target harmful bacteria but also decimate the beneficial bacteria crucial for our system. This destruction often leads to a breakdown of the healthy lining in our small intestines.
  2. Abnormal Stool – Healthy stool should be well-formed, solid, and have a rich, brown color. Stool that is either too hard or too loose may indicate an underlying issue.
  3. Stomach Pain – Inflammation within the digestive tract often causes stomach pain. It’s important to note that the discomfort might not be immediately after a meal but can manifest a day or two later. Tracking your diet and observing your body’s reaction to various foods, even days later, is a crucial step in the healing process.
  4. Food Addictions – Many individuals have sensitivities to gluten, grains, and processed dairy products. Complicating matters further, we often find ourselves addicted to the very foods that our bodies are sensitive to. Consuming these foods triggers opiate receptors in the brain, creating a cycle of dependency. If you find yourself addicted to foods high in gluten or dairy, it’s a significant indicator that your digestive system needs healing.
  5. C-Section Delivery – Ordinarily, we inherit our microbiome from our mothers during vaginal birth. However, babies born through C-section miss out on this crucial step, and as a result, they don’t receive the healthy bacteria in the same way.

At our popular Gut-Brain Connection Workshop, we will discuss the importance of gut and brain health, and the overall implications of how they contribute to chronic disease processes.
